Bilateral symmetry is an extension of my studies examining recursion. I am interested in how one can take natural inanimate forms and create a structure, through bilateral symmetry, that we interpret as an animate being. Taxonomy has traditionally divided the mineral, plant, and animal kingdoms so decisively. However, in our present age we are starting to shift our viewpoint as we manipulate genes, create nanobots, and develop artificial intelligence. Where does the mineral kingdom end and the animal kingdom begin? This photomontage contemplates these thoughts along with the subjective notion of the suspension of time. Is it possible for the mind to exist beyond time?
